What To Expect During Your Eye Exam at New Garden Eye Care & Eyewear Gallery

Our aim is to optimize your visual experience and ensure your eyes are as healthy as possible! After taking a thorough history and gaining an understanding of your visual goals, we will start by checking the prescription in your current glasses. This will give us an idea of how much your prescription has changed since your last eye exam.  We will take pictures of your eyes and, in some cases, also do a highly detailed OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) scan of the most important structures in your retina. We then use an automated phoropter (the piece of machinery that helps us fine-tune your prescription) to help us arrive at our final numbers for your new glasses. Next, we thoroughly examine the outside parts of your eyes and use high-powered lenses and a microscope to look at the structures inside your eyes. In some cases, we will need to instill dilating drops to see interior structures more clearly. The last part of your time with us is the most fun - shopping for new frames! Our experienced opticians (professionals who help select and fit glasses) will help you make the best decisions for your face, your lifestyle, and your prescription. Enjoy a cup of coffee or LaCroix while you wait. And come back as often as you'd like!
